The Lithuanian Sea Museum is located in Kopgalis, the northernmost point of the Curonian Spit. The museum collections consist of more than 60000 exhibits. The largest collection consists of preparations of sea fauna: clamshells, corals, crustaceans, sea birds, fishes, and sea mammalia. Special stock of the Lithuanian Sea Museum consists of animate exhibits: sea mammalia, birds, and fishes. The stock of animate exhibits consists of freshwater fishes of the Baltic Sea and Lithuanian rivers and lakes, corralling and tropic freshwater fishes, colony of penguins, sea mammalia (gray Baltic seals, the North and Californian sea lions etc.). In summer visitor can admire the performances of the North sea lions.
The exposition of the Lithuanian Sea Museum is also dedicated to the history of navigation. This exposition consists of original fishing boats and ships, archeological findings and documentary material. On the grounds situated on the ramparts the visitors can see a rich collection of ancient and modern anchors.
The Dolphinarium is one more very important element of the museum. Here visitors can see the performances of dolphins and Californian Sea lions. The basic aim of staging performances with dolphins and Californian sea lions is to educate the public, to acquaint the visitors and especially the young people in a most attractive way with these animals.
