Park Of Europe
The Park of Europe was founded by a sculptor Gintaras Karosas. In 1987 he found a suitable place near the Park of Vilnius and started to clear the overgrown forest. The first sculpture was placed in this park in 1991, which marks the beginning of the Park of Europe. Since then International Sculpture Symposiums are held here. The sculpture of a great conceptualist Dennis Oppenheim that was placed here paved the way to the Park of Europe for other classics of modern sculpture.
Today, more then 90 works of art are displayed in the area of 55 ha, and their authors are artists from 29 countries. The landscape is formed by Gintaras Karosas. Having a continuous exposition of the contemporary art, the Park of Europe is considered to be one of the most interesting open-air museums in the world.
